Celebrating our first season of sponsorship with Sale Sharks

Sharks top players, fans, their friends and families joined the club’s official partners at a Together-sponsored end of season event at the weekend.

Sky Sports presenter James Cooper kicked off proceedings for this year’s annual awards dinner at The Mere and handed out prizes to, among others, Faf de Klerk, our sponsored player, who has had an outstanding first season in the Aviva Premiership.

Faf picked up the ‘best try’ award for rounding off a stunning team effort with a try when the Sharks thrashed Worcester Warriors in March, while Faf’s fellow countryman Jono Ross picked up ‘player of the year’. Luke James, 19, won ‘young player of the year’ while Sharks’ Romanian prop, Alexandru Tarus, took the award for ‘community player of the year.’

South Africa international Faf’s attacking playing style helped the Sharks to breach the 500-point mark during the regular season for the first time since their title-winning 2005-06 campaign.

Other stars of this season’s Sharks team include AJ MacGinty, who scored over 100 points this term, Denny Solomona and Byron McGuigan who have been among the league’s most prolific try-scorers.

Steve Luty, our corporate relationship director, said: “The awards marked the end of a fruitful first year’s partnership between Together and Sale Sharks and it was a fantastic opportunity to thank the players on our behalf for their efforts. In particular, Faf has made a real impact in his first season and we can’t wait to see what next season brings.”

Historically based in Sale, the Sharks’ home ground is now the AJ Bell Stadium in Eccles, Salford. Season tickets for the 2018-19 season are currently on sale.
