Last year saw the exciting launch of our ‘Let’s make it count’ initiative, which demonstrates our commitment to charity, community and the environment.
As a business, we’ve long had a focus on charity and fundraising, giving back to the community, sharing skills with the younger generation and being environmentally friendly. However, as we continue to grow, we wanted to give this even more emphasis.
We’re delighted to say that it’s working and our ‘Let’s get giving’ charity initiative is a great example. We’re proud to announce that we exceeded our 2016 fundraising target, and donated over £125,000 to charitable causes last year.
The money was raised through major sporting challenges, corporate events and our weekly dress down days, and supported a wide variety of charities including Children in Need, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Seashell Trust, Once Upon a Smile, Destination Florida and St Ann’s Hospice.
Following the record-breaking year, we asked our colleagues to vote for two charities that will be a focus for our fundraising this year and the chosen two are The Christie and Manchester MIND.
Kevin Fisher, our HR director explains: “Our colleagues get really involved, so we wanted to let them have the final say on which would be our main campaigns, through a voting process. We’re really pleased to be supporting The Christie and Manchester Mind; two local charities that do such great work, and we’ll be running a host of fundraising activities throughout the year. Of course, we’ll also continue to support many other charities through our weekly dress down days, and will be taking part in some additional national charity events.”
There are plenty of exciting fundraising activities coming up, so keep an eye on our blog to stay up-to-date with all the latest ‘Let’s make in count’ news.
