Working with the right partners to deliver results

One of our recent cases really demonstrates the benefit of having strong relationships between lenders and brokers in order to deliver the best outcomes for customers – even in unusual circumstances.

In this particular case, a homeowner had bought her semi-detached house in south Wales for cash, leaving her without any funds for refurbishments, as she hadn’t realised that she could borrow funds for the work she wanted to carry out on the property.

Because she had lived in the house for less than six months, she was struggling to secure the funding she needed from a mainstream lender, despite the improvements adding long-term value to the property, as well as allowing her to pay off some existing debts.

She approached a financial advisor, who referred the customer to the specialist mortgage distributor Brightstar, which has a long track record of working with us, so knows our reputation for speed and flexibility. Our team of expert underwriters looked into the details of the case and we agreed to provide the £41,000 remortgage she needed to be able to press ahead with the planned refurbishment.
