Get to know… Camilla, our Auction Relationship Manager.

Meet Camilla

“Hi everyone. I’m Camilla Scott, and I’m an Auction Relationship Manager. I started at Together just over four years ago as an apprentice, before joining the Auction team two years ago.

The apprenticeship scheme gave me a real appreciation for how each part of the business connects. It means I can spot potential issues early and help smooth the path for both auction houses and their buyers.

Day to day, my role involves a lot of speaking to our auction house partners or their customers and working with our expert underwriters to get the right outcome for them. It can be hectic, but that’s what I love about it. There’s no better feeling than being able to tell a customer that, yes, we can help.

But it’s also about being there during the process to answer any questions they may have and provide that assurance that every step is being done properly and on time.”

The team

“Working in the auction team is amazing. We’ve such a great mix of experience, knowledge, enthusiasm, and, above all, a genuine desire to support our partners and customers.”

Auction highlights

“Highlights? Wow, there are probably too many to mention. Of course, there’s those tight turnarounds where we’ve all worked together to get the funding in a matter of days.

But I think the cases that I get the most out of are the complex ones. The ones where the auction house or customer aren’t even sure it’s possible, because of the customer’s history or the condition of property for example. Being able to look at the full picture and provide a solution where other lenders either won’t or can’t is what makes this job so rewarding.”

My one piece of advice

“My one piece of advice for auction buyers is to always check the legal pack. It sounds really simple but there’s so many bidders that go into an auction blindly without reading it or getting a lawyer to take a look.

The legal pack will tell you things like if there’s any hidden costs, what the leasehold looks like, or even if the property is connected to water and drainage.

Once the hammer drops, the property is essentially yours – it’s really not a great time for any nasty surprises.”

More top tips

From the ‘six month rule’ to ‘investigating tenancies’, here’s the advice our expert auction team wish every auction bidder knew.

Working with auction houses

“Trust is everything. When an auction house refers a customer to us, they want to know that we’ll deliver and that we’ll make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. The experience reflects on both of us and can be the difference between the buyer choosing to work with either of our services again.

Auction finance is about speed and clarity. I really value the close relationships I’ve built with auction houses. It means they have a direct, dedicated contact whenever they need us. By working together, we’re constantly finding ways to streamline the process so we can deliver funds quickly and reliably within the tight auction timescales.”
