Let’s beat cancer Together .

We have been working closely with The Christie hospital for the past six months through our ‘Let’s Get Giving’ initiative – raising thousands of pounds for the charity, to help those affected by cancer.

The Christie was chosen as one of our charity partners this year by our colleagues, many of whom have had friends or family affected by the disease, so we were very pleased to welcome one of their health advisors to join us for a ‘cancer awareness’ session to tell us more about the work they do, as well as offering practical guidance and support for those with family or friends receiving treatment.

The Christie’s representative Charlotte Finchett recounted some moving stories of patients who had been helped through radio and chemotherapy and said: “With your support, we are allowing more and more people access to the help they need.”

Charlotte also provided information on how we can all make healthier choices, as well as sharing simple tips for relieving stress, such as breathing exercises and elastic ‘stretch men’ which were handed out to guests.

The visit was part of our ‘wellbeing week’ which saw over 300 colleagues participate in a host of activities including massages, lunchtime yoga, Tai Chi and daily walks.

Kevin Fisher, our HR director commented: “We’re very grateful to The Christie for providing the informative sessions which over 120 of our colleagues attended. There was really useful practical advice and information and it also gave colleagues a good understanding of the work the charity does and how the funds we’ve raised will help.”
