If you've been made redundant, it's worthwhile checking if you have any personal insurance to cover your income or loan repayments while you're looking for another job.
Additional support
Turn2us helps people in financial need gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and other financial help – online, by phone and face to face. Turn2us is a national charity providing practical help to people who are struggling financially.

We understand that the breakdown of any relationship can have a significant impact on the household finances.

In addition, there are there are a number of charities dedicated to helping support you when a relationship breaks down.
• Refuge is a national charity helping those who have suffered domestic abuse to rebuild their lives through support and advice.
• MoneyHelper offers free, independent advice on how to deal with life events and can offer advice if someone is controlling your money, or running up debts in your name. Financial abuse is a form of domestic abuse. It is a crime and should be reported to the police.
• Gingerbread works with single-parent families. They provide expert advice, practical support and campaign for single mums and dads.
• Citizens Advice offers free, independent confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities.

Are you struggling to manage your account or know someone who is struggling to manage their account?
We understand that some customer’s circumstances change where they are no longer able to manage their own account and want to give authority for someone else to help them with this. We have detailed some options that are available and links to support and advice to help you determine what might be most suitable for you.
Letter of authority
If you'd prefer someone else to speak about your account on your behalf, that's fine. You can give immediate verbal authority for someone to discuss your account which lasts for that working day. Please call us to confirm the details.

Power of Attorney
Power of attorney is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more people to help you make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf.
English and Welsh residents – The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) helps people in England and Wales to stay in control of decisions about their health and finance and make important decisions for others who cannot decide for themselves.
