We understand how hard it is when a loved one passes away and we're very sorry to hear about your loss.
We know you may have other things on your mind than sorting out their finances. So, when you’re ready, we’re here to support you throughout. We’ll try to make things as straightforward as possible, even when nothing seems easy.
What you need to do
Give us a call as soon as you feel able on
- Personal customers: 0161 333 7403. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm.
- Commercial customers: 0161 333 7415. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm.
In time, we’ll ask you to send a certified copy of the death certificate, either by post or by sending us a scanned copy electronically. We’ll be on hand to talk you through the ins and outs of what happens next, over the phone.

Here, you can find lots of useful information on paperwork tasks that need to be taken care of, including tracing a will and updating property records. They can also offer guidance and eligibility information on monetary support called Bereavement Payment.
Do you need financial help and advice?
Contact the MoneyHelper on 0800 138 7777. They can help you understand matters that might affect your own finances after losing someone, like pensions, inheritence and tax.
Additionally, Citizens Advice have guidance on topics including bereavement benefits, and where you stand if a will hasn't been made.
Do you need emotional support and guidance?
Several support services are available.

Macmillan Cancer Support has a comprehensive online guide for families affected by cancer. Their free, confidential Support Line is open seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm. Call 0808 808 00 00.
Cruse Bereavement Care provides coping strategies and support for issues including loneliness after losing a loved one. You can also speak to them on phone from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Call 0808 808 1677.
