Apprenticeships at Together.
We know university isn’t for everyone. If you need a little bit more information on our apprenticeship scheme, take a look at some of our people who have experienced the Academy. Hear from the individuals who went through the same searches and processes as you, from current apprentices to alumni.

Apprentice Programme: Sales Apprentice
Joined Together: 2024
I first came across Together when looking for apprenticeships in college. I always knew I wanted to go on to an apprenticeship after college as university never appealed to me. I was influenced by the clarity of information I received just by reading about Together’s apprenticeship programme, and the business as a whole.
When it came to the recruitment process, I felt comfortable – differing from other interview formats I’d experienced. Together’s process gave me a chance to engage with others who now work alongside me in the business and get a feel for what it will be like to work at Together. The face-to-face interview allowed me to express myself.
Working in this business has allowed me to acquire a vast amount of knowledge in a short time. Balancing job responsibilities with obtaining a qualification has enhanced my professional development, empowering me to take ownership of my responsibilities and commitments as I shape my future.
The Academy has been instrumental in encouraging a more proactive approach to managing tasks and workload.
I've quickly adapted with ample support, including weekly one-on-one meetings with my manager that keep me informed about my progress and what lies ahead for me.
Top tips: Remember that everyone is in the same boat as you, and even the person interviewing you would’ve been in your shoes one day – come prepared and it will be fine.

Together appealed to me because of the development opportunities available, I could tell that developing talent is part of Togethers philosophy.
When I joined the programme, I initially believed it would be difficult to balance studying and working. However, I was proven wrong. Together provides dedicated time to complete my apprenticeship work separate from my regular job, and support is readily available if needed.
I have grown significantly, both professionally and personally. This experience has provided me with extensive exposure within the business and beyond, and networking events and masterclasses have greatly enhanced my learning. Despite being young and relatively inexperienced, I am treated as an equal, as we all strive to represent Together to the best of our abilities.
There have been times when I've struggled with the confidence to question and present alternative viewpoints. However, I have consistently received encouragement to share my thoughts, which has challenged me to express my ideas and develop a fresh perspective.
I always advise others to say "yes" to every opportunity and participate in every academy event for the chance to engage with the broader business. However, I’ve learned it's important to under promise and overdeliver, rather than the opposite.
My journey began with zero knowledge of mortgages, and now I can fully process and fund mortgages, even those with complex issues – and this is just the beginning of my career!
Based on my experience, here are a few tips for anyone just starting out:
- Always present yourself well, as you never know who you might encounter and what opportunities may come your way.
- Have confidence in your abilities, and most importantly, be yourself—don’t attempt to be someone you’re not.

During my time in the Academy, I rotated between multiple different teams – allowing me to explore my interests as I moved forward.
I have rolled off the apprenticeship programme and have continued to be given responsibility and opportunities to work with highly regarded stakeholders within the business. I gained a lot of confidence whilst I was in the Academy. It allowed me strong foundations to build my career upon and develop myself. It exposed me to decision making opportunities and responsibility within a specialist sector. This has allowed me to become an SME on Social Housing with my opinion respected across the business.
The mentoring I received whilst in the Academy provided me with excellent career advice that supported my growth. Understanding the importance, I had mentoring from a senior manager which provided continuing inspiration.
Even during times of change, I have successfully adapted and persevered. The career path I initially envisioned was affected, prompting me to reassess my plans. This challenge has opened my eyes to new opportunities and has contributed to my future growth.
In addition to the challenges I've faced, I've also experienced significant career successes. Notable achievements include being named Together Apprentice of the Year in 2022 and successfully completing my first assignment for my Level 6 Qualification, taking advantage of the learning opportunities at Together. This demonstrates that lateral moves also lead to progress. It's important to seize every opportunity that comes your way.
