What you'll need to apply

To make the process smooth, here's what we'll ask for when you apply for a mortgage:

Income documents

You'll need to show a stable employment history:

  • Employed
    • At least 6 months of employment history (or 12 months of continuous employment).
    • 3 of last 5 payslips (if paid monthly).
    • 4 of last 6 payslips (if paid weekly).
    • If working through an agency: last 6 months of payslips.

  • Self-employed
    • Accountant’s certificate or
    • Last 2 full business years of self-assessment forms
    • Plus 3 months of bank statements

Credit information

We’re flexible when it comes to credit and assess on a case-by-case basis, not just a credit score. So, don’t worry if you’re unsure or you’ve had credit issues in the past. Just speak to us to see if we can provide a solution.

Soliciter details

You’ll need a solicitor to handle the legal side.
Tip: Speak to a few different solicitors to compare fees before choosing one.

Property details

If you’re a first-time buyer, let us know where the property is being advertised. This helps us with visibility and checks.

What to expect at every stage

Before you apply

Get prepared so that the mortgage process runs smoothly:

  • Payslips: 3 of 5 payslips (if paid monthly), 4 of last 6 payslips (if paid weekly)
  • Check your credit score: Make sure everything looks good.
  • Budget check: Understand your income and outgoings.
  • Solicitor details: Speak to a few solicitors and compare fees.

During the application

Here’s what happens once you submit your documents:

  • Timeline: A mortgage offer usually takes 2–4 weeks after submission.
  • References: Fill in details about your current living situation (renting, living with family/friends).
  • Stay informed:
    • Track your progress in our App
    • Or call us directly on [insert direct number] if you have questions.

After your offer

Once your mortgage is approved:

  • We’re still here for you: Reach out via the app or phone anytime
  • Your Solicitor takes over: They’ll handle contracts, set your completion date, and liaise with us.
  • Collect your keys: Time to move in!
  • Welcome pack: You’ll receive a Together welcome pack once everything is signed off (subject to Underwriter confirmation).
