You’re at a party. Someone asks you what work you do. What do you say?
I develop people to do their jobs better.

Where were you before you joined Together? And why did you join Together?
I worked for an HR Consultancy and Together were a client. I knew the business and, when the chance to join them came up, I was happy to say ‘Yes!’

What do you like best about your role? And what don’t you like?
I love running courses that people find interesting, thought provoking, engaging and effective. I’ve sat through enough boring courses to know that I never want to inflict that on anyone else. There isn’t much that I don’t enjoy, but having to endure boring presentations delivered by people from other companies is frustrating!

Have you changed much since you joined Together?
I’ve learned a lot about financial services. I’d never worked in the industry before and so it’s really improved my knowledge. Personally, I’m far more confident now and have a wider view about how I want to develop my career here.

What qualities do you need to do your job well?
As well as not being boring I need to be a really good listener, to make sure I can understand how people want to improve and what their goals are.

Where do you see yourself and the company in five years?
Who knows? That’s one of the exciting things about Together. The company is helping me develop and that means I could branch out into a number of different career paths. As for the company, I think we’ll be approaching being a household name!

Outside of work, what do you get up to?
My four kids keeps me busy. I’m the classic ‘Dad’s taxi’, but luckily we also get out into the country for some long walks quite often.

Any personal or professional mantras you live by?
You can’t change your past but you can control your future.
